Why do I always read to add a tray of water with "pebbles" around the plant to increase the humidity for a Gardenia. What purpose do the pebbles play? Why not just a tray or bowls of water? Why the pebbles?
Gardenia Plant and increasing humidity?
The pebbles keep the bottom of the pot OUT of the water. Then the soil in the pot is not soggy. But the air around the pot gets the humidity.
