What do you know about gardenia's profile?
Gardenias thrive in warm, humid weather like that in the south. However, they do like cooler night time temperatures in order to initiate bud formation. One thing to watch out for is mealybugs and aphids which should be washed off with a hose right away. This usually is an indication that the plant is stressed or the air is too dry. Keep the plant well watered - Gardenias will wilt at the first sign of a missed watering! Adding some coffee grounds or Miracid in the soil will keep the shrub happy since it thrives in acidic soil. Give it a bright sunny location if you have it in a pot, or plant it outdoors where it will receive sunlight for most of the day. It is not frost hardy, so if you are in zones 5,6,7,and 8, you'll have to bring the plant indoors to protect it from the winter cold.

Hope this helps!
