Gardenia hasnt flowered, leaves going brown and brittle?

The plant must have a rich, acid soil (pH of 4.5 - 5.5). The soil should be porous which allows water to drain through quickly and yet has the ability to retain moisture. Prepackaged acid based potting mixes that are prepared especially for gardenias, camellias and azaleas can be purchased at many garden centers. It sounds as though your Gardenia may be lacking water or nutrients (if it's in a shady area then frozen water in the soil becomes unavailable to plants sometimes even though it appears moist). Give it a good feed for acid loving plants - miracle grow ericaceous food is good; keep it well watered; and if possible give it a good mulch of ericaceous compost or dig out and replace some of the surrounding soil with it. Good luck :-)

Too much sun and not enough moisture could cause that.
Reply:Sounds horribly like it got caught by frost.
