How do I protect a Gardenia Bush from a cold night, possible frost?

PLACE A LARGE PLASTIC GARBAGE BAG OVER IT DURING THE NIGHT. IF THE BUSH IS TOO LARGE FOR A GARBAGE BAG, USE AN INEXPENSIVE TARP.

REMOVE DURING THE DAY.

How do I protect a Gardenia Bush from a cold night, possible frost?
Cover it with plastic or cloth, but hold the plastic or cloth up with sticks so the plant doesn't touch it. It could freeze where it touches. Punch holes in a can and invert it over a tealight candle and put that on the dirt near plant, under the cover, if you can do so safely.
Reply:Where are you? Is your gardenia hardy there?

You could gently wrap it in burlap. If it is not hardy in your area it could be killed by freezing. Good Luck!
Reply:Put down a thick layer of mulch over black plastic to protect roots and put a big bag over top and closs around stock. Use a lite colored bag so sunlite can still get in . Put a few small holes in bag close to the ground.
Reply:We got snow today. The news people were telling everyone to put a blanket over flowering shrubs %26amp; flowers overnight.
